60th Anniversary of London Section
2004 was the 60th anniversary of the London Section. London is the 5th oldest Section in Canada, created as a local organization of the international Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) on October 31, 1944. Then on January 1, 1962, the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE) Section was formed in London. These two Sections came together on January 1, 1963 when the AIEE and IRE merged to form the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
From left, in Calgary - October 2004, IEEE Canada President Bill Kennedy presents London Section Chair Kash Husain with a certificate recognizing the 60th anniversary of the founding of the London Section. In Niagara Falls - May 2004, Bill presents Kash with the 2003 Section Sustained Membership Growth Award (best in Canada) for thr London Section. At right is the certificate.
